Soon, they saw Brownie the bear, whose car was stuck in a ditch. Thorn stopped, and they helped push the car out. Brownie was grateful and promised to remember their kindness. On the final stretch, Brownie, moved by their help, let them pass. They crossed the finish line first, greeted by cheers. I am afraid.” Jim tells Fran, “don’t be afraid, I have something that can help you to learn how to swim. Come with me.” Jim then runs towards his parents and shouts to his mother, “mommy, can you please give me the arm floats?”. Jim’s mother took out the arm floats from her beach bag, and gave them to Jim. Jim gave one to Fran and said “here, blow that float up and I will blow this one up”. Fran and Jim each blew up one arm float. Then Jim said “Now slide these up your arms. I will help you. They will help you to float in the water.” After the floats were on her little upper arms, she held out her arms and started to walk towards the water with Jim. Jim went into the water up to his knees first. Jim then turned and reached out his hand to Fran and said “come in the water with me”. Fran held his hand and walked into the water with him. As Fran went further into the water, she then exclaimed to Jim “I can’t feel the bottom with my feet anymore!”. Jim then laughed and said, “that’s because you are floating”. Then Fran realized that the arm floats were helping her to float. She then laughed and shouted to her parents saying “Mommy, Daddy, I am floating!”. Her parents waved to her smiling and Jim’s parents were also smiling. Fran and Jim then had fun laughing and playing in the water together, while both of their parents looked on, smiling. Fran and Jim had the best beach day ever.

It was time for Karmie and Reese to go outside. The trees were tall. Reese wagged his tail as they walked by the park, where Karmie played with her friends. 6.That night, her adults sat down with her. “Karmie,” they said, “we have some exciting news! We’re going to move to a new home soon.” Karmie felt her heart skip. 7. She held Reese's leash tightly as they walked to the moving truck. “I hope I like the new house,” she whispered to Reese. 8. When they arrived at the new house, Karmie took a deep breath and stepped inside. First, she saw her new bedroom. It was different, but still cozy, and her purple blanket was already on the bed. 9. In the new bathroom, her sparkly toothbrush was waiting by the sink, just like before. The kitchen smelled like pancakes, and Karmie noticed the sunlight pouring in through the windows, just like her old home. 10. That night she snuggled into her new bed. She still had her favorite things, her dog Reese, and most importantly, her family. “I think I’m going to love it here,” Karmie whispered, closing her eyes with a smile. 11.
